Roosting camps and what they do for the bats

Grey headed flying foxes form two different roosting camps,summer camps and winter camps. Summer camps are used from September April or June, whereas winter camps are used from May, June, July and August. Summmer camps are considered "main camps", and winter camps are referred to as "transit camps". In the summer camps, that start in January male grey headed flying foxes set up mateing territores, these are usually 3.5 body lengths along branches. Around the beginning of mateing season, adult females move from the periphery towards the central male territoroes where they become part of a short-term "harems" that consist of a male and a unstableg group of up to five females
